Climate Solutions Caravan

The Three Revas:

Morning Stretch with the RevasReva at Mumbai University

Our Revas are totally free from diesel and petrol, making them independent of strikes and price shocks! They're powered with lithium ion batteries, allowing them to travel more than 150 km on a single charge (of less than 12 kWh units!!). Their roofs are covered in solar cells that charge the batteries with more than 10 percent of the total battery capacity. This means we are travelling at least 10 - 20 km per day from solar power! The rest is charged when we plug in at stations along the way.

We've named our cars Jungle Fury (green), Electric Addiction (yellow), and Revolution: Road to 350 (white).

Reva Cars

For small Cars in Europe
The CO2 emissions are 179g/km
For REVA (EVs) it is 63g/km
Carbon efficiency for EVs = (179-63)/179*100 = 65%

For small Cars in India
The CO2 emissions are >200g/km
For REVA (EVs) it is 80-90g/km (depending upon state grid)
Carbon efficiency for EVs > 50%

The Fleet:

We're also accompanied by a fleet of incredible vehicles all with innovative clean technology developed or modified in India, especially for the Climate Solutions Road Tour.

 Salman Khan and his Truck

All of our equipment was transported with the amazing Salman Khan driving CleanStar's truck running on Regenatec system for pure plant oil. The oil from jatropha and pongamia plants was harvested sustainably from trees grown on marginal land to help support local farmers.

Solar Punch Buggy

Our Solar Punch Buggy, loaned by Arun Upasswamy and the KUN Auto Group in Chennai and driven by the incredible Mohan Dass, was covered in 230 W of solar provided by Kotak Urja! The solar charged our backseat battery pack, which helped us charge our laptops, mobile phones, and much more!

Stanislav

Stanislav Miler's ecojourneys van running on waste vegetable oil from ITC hotels has driven thousands of kilometers, from the Czech Republic to India, throughout the Middle East, to spread messages of climate solutions and the human connection we all share. Stanislav is a passionate vegetarian, and an incredible road tour companion. He found us on youTube and joined us for a beautiful part of the journey.

Fully operational solar powered vehicles needed for Indian road

Lithium batteries 5 times less in weight than lead-acid batteries, If combined with light weight carbon-fibre structure and highly effecient solar panels, it can change Indian automobile sector in a sweep(starting with private vevicle owners) We can hope for a greener tomorrow, and better one too. www.suvlav.com Equity research center in India call 91-9883086212 91-9804236100

Cars

I just love electric cars , and environment friendly ones , i try to live a green life as much as i can , and a car that runs on duracell would be amazing

Solar powered Revas

Wow, its an impressive journey. But I must confess that as an Engineer, I don't really understand the claims on your vehicles. You say that the electric Revas are only 20% more carbon efficient but that 10% of their energy is from solar which should be carbon neutral. Does that mean an electric powered reva is only 10% better than diesel/petrol? Have you also adjusted for the fact that small petrol cars can carry 5 adults in reasonable comfort while a reva seems to only carry two adults and 2 children? It also seems to me that if we covered the whole roof, bonnet and the rear window with a solar panel, then according to your numbers almost 30-40% of the car could be solar powered. I have never heard of such high performance from a solar panel. In our projects we are struggling to get more than 4 hours of power for basic lights and a fan from such sized panels(people want to power TVs but this is too hard for that size of solar panels) and yet Reva can power a car for 20 km. Could you share the engineering behind this?

I learned about your web site

I learned about your web site from Thoma Freidman's op ed page on Sunday NY times Feb15th. It is wonderful that the youngsters from India are leading this. With Best Wishes
