Climate Team Meets President Patil, the President of India, at Rashtrapati Bhavan!
We had the incredible honor to be invited to meet President Patil, the honorable President of India, at her home at Rashtrapati Bhavan! She was thrilled to hear about our Climate Solutions Road Tour and was supportive of our efforts to take action on climate solutions. We hope that all Heads of State around the world recognize the young people in their countries who are making a difference on this issue! If there is one thing that I know we all learned during the Climate Solutions Road Tour, it is that when you have a positive vision for the future, then it is up to you to make it happen. We are all artists, and the reality we create is our greatest artwork. We have a choice every day on what we do and how the world should be. This team of passionate people on the road tour and all those involved along the way saw an exciting new vision. We all knew it was mad, but that spurred us to do even more. Because we realized that it is the crazy ideas that change the world.
I went on this tour in the search for inspiration, not just for myself but for the world at large. We need good stories these days--stories of hope and climate heroes and green successes. This one-month journey was inundated with hope, with joy, with a positive belief that we can make a difference; that we have the solutions to climate change already; and that the greatest solution is our human capacity to take action!
The Road Tour was just a beginning. It was the launch of the Climate Solutions Project and the beginning of an insistence that we focus on solutions and action. There is no reason to continue the way we are. The solutions are all right in front of us today.

A Drive to Change
It wasn’t until the 4th day that I realized the magnitude of what we were doing. On January 3, 2009, a group of passionate individuals launched on a Climate Solutions Road Tour, an epic month-long 3,500 km journey from Chennai to New Delhi, India to demonstrate that clean transportation solutions do exist and call upon automakers globally to build them.
On the 4th day of this adventure, January 7, I truly understood the seeds of revolution that we were planting on our “Drive to Change.”
With a loud flag-off by the CEO of Reva electric cars in Bangalore, I zipped out of the city and onto the newly constructed national highway. 140 km later, we pulled off at our first electric car charging point: an Indian Oil petrol station. The irony was not lost on any of us. A few dusty petrol pumps stood in stark contrast to the landscape of pristine farmland and green hills. Several abandoned lorry trucks slept by the side of the road.
